The Beauty of Color
Historically and traditionally, India is a country where people from all over the world go to seek for spiritual enlightenment; especially western people, who go to India to learn meditation, to gain spiritual knowledge and to seek spiritual development. Many people follow India gurus in order to receive their blessings. India itself is a symbol of Spirituality, yet, not many people really realized the unique and powerful contribution that India women have brought to their country and to the world. One of the ways that they contribute is through the colors they wear.
During our travel time in India, I was never ceased to be amazed how colorful and beautiful the clothes of Indian women were. Wherever we went, the first thing that caught my eyes was the color – red, coral, orange, gold, yellow, olive, green, turquoise, blue, indigo, violet, magenta, pink and white, etc. Because of the colors they wore, the whole environment became vibrant and alive. I was in wow of the significant differences these women have made to the surroundings in their presence.
I cannot imagine what our world would be like without color?! Who would watch a sunset if it only took place in shades of grey? Think of the way our mood lifts when we go outside and the sky is blue and the Sun is shining. Without color, there would be no liveliness; nothing at all except dullness, depression and dread. Color brings the world alive; color makes the world vibrant, meaningful and livable. We are surrounded by colors and intimately connect with colors. Indian women intuitively know and understand the impact of colors to their lives. Through the colors they wear, they bring spiritual attributes to their surroundings: Red – energy, coral – acceptance, orange – creativity, gold – manifestation, yellow – playfulness, olive – experiencing life with hope, green – healing and growth, turquoise – communication from your heart, blue – communication, indigo – intuition, purple – spiritual connection and imagination, pink – love, magenta – compassion, black – protection and grounding, brown – down to earth, grey – neutral, white – purity and clearness. In this way, Indian women have brought so much spiritual advancement to India, silently and surely without having to use the word “spiritual”. Without color is without life!
We are the colors we choose. Color is a subconscious language that we use instinctively in every area of our lives. Through the colors we seem randomly attracted to, our soul delivers messages from our subconscious to bring attention, awareness, action and change into our being. Each of us experiences changes in our own vibration, behavior, and pattern when exposed to different colors.
Colors create change in us at all levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, as each color has its own unique vibration and frequency. If we pay attention to colors we are attracted to or repelled by, and allow the colors to be our guidance, we are able to tap into the depths of our own being. Learning to recognize and use color with awareness can bring positive and powerful changes into our lives, and assist us on the journey of self healing, reaching higher consciousness and wholeness.
